Seoul National University Organizational Psychology Lab (SNU OP Lab)

Now hiring Research Interns for February - June 2024


We are accepting applications for SNU OP Lab Research Internship Spring 2024. SNU OP lab explores the human mind in the workplace with the aim to facilitate individual growth and organizational functioning. Our research topics include but are not limited to workplace inclusion, entrepreneurship, employee well-being, and personnel/career decisions. We use various methodologies such as surveys, media data analysis, experiments, and interviews in our research projects. OP Lab research interns are expected to study and experience these research processes.

 

Here are some of our current research questions:

 

How do social backgrounds (e.g., ethnicity, gender, social class) affect individual career decisions and workplace evaluations?

When and why are stereotype violations penalized in organizational settings?

What drives some people to take the risk of starting a social venture?

What type of entrepreneurial pitches actually wins the heart of investors?

How can we provide simple yet effective ways to improve employee’s mental health?

What psychological mechanisms shape employee turnover in current era?

 

You will interact with multiple members of the lab, including Dr. Kawon Kim (Principal Investigator) and graduate students, and assist their research implementation. You will also be invited to our regular lab meetings and to our journal club sessions. This can be a great opportunity to learn about lab life, academic collaboration, and research methodologies.

 

The contents of the program

• Research assistance (e.g., literature review, research participant recruitment, collection, organization, and rating of company- or individual level data, data labelling for machine learning)

• Lab meeting participation

• Journal club participation: Reading and discussing research papers with lab members

 

Eligibility to apply

• Any undergraduate (or graduated) student interested in organizational psychology

• Ability to commit 10 total hours per week (40 hours per month) from March to June 2024 (four consecutive months)

• Willingness to spend 15 hours per month on campus in the SNU OP Lab, attending in-person meetings and events

• Strong sense of responsibility, diligence, collaborative spirit, and learning orientation.

Preferences

• Excellence in reading and writing English

• Experience with statistical/computational analysis of text data (using Python/R) and/or survey research data

• Consideration of SNU OP Lab for graduate school
